Ragnarok Guide

Ragnarok is always worth hitting hard.  A few days before it begins, start building your army and stockpiling silver.  To get the most out of it, you can also refrain from collecting gold, sacred potions, and mercenary (Epic Monster Hunter) rewards from the triumphal tournament, or you can just be skimpy with these until Ragnarok. But if you’re like me you should just not open them at all, so you’re not tempted to use them.

  • Who:  Clan raids for Jormungander / individual with 1 captain for Fenrir
  • Player Benefits:     XP for hero or captain of choice, VP while attacking FENRIR ONLY, VP for sale, Tar, Dragon coins & dragon orbs, Silver in chests, Rare keys, Speedups, Set of best gear in the game for epics.
  • Clan Benefits:    Clan chests – 5 for Jor, 25 for Fenrir
  • Titles:    None

This tournament is arguably the best one to participate in, but there are a few tricks to it.  It consists of two different epic squads, Jormungander which you have to attack as a clan in raids, and Fenrir, which you attack individually.  For each monster you will accumulate coins that you can spend in the corresponding shop. Both shops have good rewards, but you must hit Jomungander first to get an XP bonus for your Fenrir attacks.

PRO TIP: If you’re close to levelling up your Guardsmen (ex. G3 to G4), wait till after Ragnarok begins. Your personal goals depend on your level at the start of the tournament. So start as a G3, upgrade to G4, get your Fenrir bonus from the Jormungandr shop, and then start building and fighting Fenrir with upgraded troops. It should be very easy to gain a ton of coins. DO NOT SPEND THE COINS NOW.  The game always has the same price for every item, but the quantity goes up based on your Guardsmen level at the beginning of the tournament. When the next Ragnarok begins, the shop will have bigger rewards for the exact same price.  One of the best things to get is cheap VP for your next troop upgrade.

JORMUNGANDER (1ST)

Always begin by attacking the snake, because in his shop you can purchase a strength bonus against Fenrir.  You have to go on clan raids against Jormungander often enough to get the coins needed to purchase the bonus, and only then should you start on the wolf.

For the raids you’ll need a minimum of 2 members and a maximum of 5 in the raid.  The most important factor in the number of points you score on a raid is the number of separate attacks on the monster, and this is determined by how many different types of troops are sent.  When sending troops to join a raid, aim for a minimum of 12 troop layers.  Ideally, as a raid organizer you should aim for at least 16 different silver troops (guardsman, specialists), 8 different monster troops and 8 different mercenaries. DO NOT HESITATE TO CANCEL A RAID if you don’t have sufficient strength or numbers to win.  Try again and explain, gently and kindly if possible, that you’re trying to maximize VP for everyone in the raid, and they need to send at least 12 different troop layers to do that.  They’ll see the results eventually.

FENRIR (2ND)

Again: DO NOT start on the wolf until you purchase the strength bonus in the Jormungander event shop!! This will increase your score significantly... Also, before starting to hit Fenrir, take a peek at your personal goals and try to set a stop point where you’ll be happy with what you get.  It is tempting to keep hitting until you have nothing left, but again, try to play within your limit. Be smart with your troops. ALSO: Fenrir lasts for 2 days, and the second day always coincides with the Immortal Essence tournament. Save some troops and resources for the 2nd day so that you can maximize the Immortal Essence rewards (hard to come by and sooo important for Hall of Fame advancement). ALSO: don’t forget to buy the XP, VP, Health bonuses in Fenrir’s shop. They last for 7 days each and are worth the minimal cost in coins.
